Satellite Images Show Increased Activities At Russian Site

Russia’s nuclear-powered missile test raises global concerns, warns Ukraine intelligence.

Russia-Ukrainian—(Special—Correspondent/Web Desk)— Russia is reportedly preparing to test its new nuclear-powered cruise missile, the 9M730 Burevestnik. Ukrainian military intelligence claims Moscow may use a successful test to strengthen its position in negotiations with Western countries.

The missile, also called SSC-X-9 Skyfall by NATO, is said to have a nearly unlimited range and an unpredictable flight path. Russian President Vladimir Putin has called it “invincible” to missile defenses. However, experts remain skeptical about its actual effectiveness and warn of possible radiation risks.

According to Ukrainian spokesperson Andriy Yusov, the test’s main goal is to validate technical and scientific solutions implemented in the missile. Satellite images from Planet Labs show increased personnel, equipment, and the presence of ships and aircraft at the Pankovo test site on Novaya Zemlya in the Barents Sea.

The Burevestnik missile has a challenging history, with only two partial successes in thirteen known tests, according to the Nuclear Threat Initiative. Despite this, Russia may attempt another test to gain diplomatic leverage amid ongoing tensions in Ukraine.

Trump to Meet Putin in Alaska, Urges Ukraine Ceasefire Now

While the Pentagon, CIA, and Russian defense ministry have declined to comment, the announcement comes just before US-Russia talks in Alaska aimed at ending the war in Ukraine. Analysts suggest that even a partial success could be used by Moscow to influence negotiations and demonstrate its military capabilities.
