Sardar Saleem Haider takes oath as Punjab governor
PPP leader from Attock Sardar Saleem Haider took oath as the 39th Punjab governor of the province.

Earlier, leaders of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Punjab chapter met with party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari at Zardari House in Islamabad and nominated Sardar Saleem Haider for the appointment of the next Punjab governor.
The notification of the appointment of the governor was issued today.
Leaders of the PPP Punjab chapter including Raja Pervez Ashraf, Hassan Murtaza, and Shehzad Saeed Cheema participated in the meeting. Sardar Salim Haider and Nadeem Afzal Chan also joined the meeting.
The leaders nominated Sardar Saleem Haider for the appointment of the Governor of Punjab. “I am being made the Governor of Punjab,” Sardar Salim Haider said.

Who is Sardar Salim Haider?
Sardar Salim Haider is a resident of the village and post office Dhurnal, tehsil Fateh Jang in district Attock.
President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday formally approved the appointment of governors for Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan as per the power-sharing formula agreed upon by the parties in the ruling coalition, headed by the PML-N, after the Feb 8 general elections.
The president approved the appointment of Sardar Saleem Haider as the governor of Punjab, Faisal Karim Kundi as KP governor and Sardar Jafar Khan Mandokhail as Balochistan governor, according to an official announcement from the presidency.
Both Mr Haider and Mr Kundi are considered PPP loyalists, whereas Mr Mandokhail is the president of PML-N’s Balochistan chapter.
Mr Haider, who belongs to Rawalpindi, will replace PML-N’s Balighur Rehman in Punjab and Mr Kundi hailing from Dera Ismail Khan will take over the charge in KP from Haji Ghulam Ali of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Fazl).
