SAPM Jawad Malik holds crucial talks with Qatar’s Interior Minister

Malik extended congratulations to Minister Al Thani for the successful hosting of the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar.

ISLAMABAD: In a significant development, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development (SAPM OP&HRD), Jawad Sohrab Malik, met with Qatar’s Minister of State for Interior Affairs, Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Faisal Al Thani. The leaders discussed key areas of cooperation, focusing on security and economic collaboration.

During the meeting, SAPM Malik extended congratulations to Minister Al Thani for the successful hosting of the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar, praising the event’s exemplary standards. Emphasizing the integral role of the Pakistani diaspora in Qatar’s development, Malik expressed the commitment to providing skilled manpower for Qatar’s economic progress. To facilitate the mobility of Pakistani workers, he proposed the establishment of additional Qatar Visa Centers (QVCs) in Pakistan, starting with Peshawar and Lahore.

In response, Minister Al Thani acknowledged the vital contributions of the Pakistani diaspora and highlighted the longstanding ties in trade, economy, and defense cooperation between the two nations. The proposal for additional QVCs is under consideration, with a feasibility study underway. The leaders also discussed mutual interests and reviewed cooperation in security fields.

The SAPM commended Qatar’s humanitarian efforts, particularly its commitments during the Gaza conflict, reaffirming Pakistan’s support. An invitation was extended to Minister Al Thani to visit Pakistan. The meeting, attended by the Ambassador of Pakistan to Qatar and Community Welfare Attaches, marks a milestone in strengthening bilateral ties and fostering collaborative efforts for mutual benefit.
