Salman Khan helps Rajpal Yadav secure release from jail

Rajpal Yadav remains in Tihar Jail; rumours about Salman Khan bailing him out are completely false and misleading.

Rajpal Yadav & Salman Khan – (Web Desk) – Speculation spread quickly over the weekend after a viral video showed Rajpal Yadav thanking Salman Khan, leading many to believe the superstar had helped secure his release from jail. However, the reality is much less dramatic.

Rajpal Yadav was sent to Tihar Jail earlier this month after he surrendered in a Rs9-crore cheque bounce case. His request for relief was later turned down by the Delhi High Court, and he is still in custody. As the video circulated online, rumours grew that Salman Khan had paid his dues and arranged his freedom, but these claims are not true.

In the widely circulated clip, Rajpal is seen addressing the media, saying, “Salman bhai bade bhai ki tarah hain, Salman bhai ke sath aaj baith ke andar se bahot khushi mehsoos hoti hai. Sach me relieve mehsoos kar raha hoon. (Salman Khan is like an older brother. Today, I feel very happy sitting with him. Truly, I am very relieved).”

His tone and reference to feeling “relieved” fueled rumours that Salman had intervened in his ongoing legal trouble. However, the clip is not recent and has no connection to the current case.

Shutting down the speculation, Rajpal’s wife Radha Yadav confirmed there has been no such development. Speaking to Bombay Times, she said, “As of now, he is not out of Tihar Jail. The bail hearing is scheduled for Monday.”

Offering a brief update on his condition, she added, “He is okay, from what I understand. Our whole family is together at this time. We are very grateful for the support and love he is receiving from his fans and the film fraternity.”

The legal battle dates back years. Rajpal had borrowed ₹5 crore in 2010 to finance his directorial debut. When the film failed, he was unable to repay the amount. In 2018, a magisterial court sentenced both him and his wife to six months in prison.

A sessions court upheld the conviction in 2019. After approaching the Delhi High Court, he initially received relief. But earlier this month, the High Court declined further relief, noting that he had already been directed to surrender on February 4, 2026.

Justice Sharma observed that because he had not complied with the earlier surrender order, his plea would only be considered after he handed himself over to jail authorities.

Rajpal surrendered on February 5. The court clarified that he would be free to file an appropriate application in accordance with the law after doing so.

With the actor currently serving his sentence and the next bail hearing scheduled for February 16, support from members of the film industry continues to pour in. But despite viral claims, there has been no dramatic rescue and no secret payout, at least for now.
