Sajid Khan Outclasses Joe Root as Pakistan Keeps England in Check
Pakistan-(Sports Reporter): Off-spinner Sajid Khan (4-86) and fellow spinner Noman Ali made England work hard on day two of the second Test at Multan Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.
As per reports, England’s openers got off to a steady start after bowling Pakistan out for 366 in 124 overs. Ben Duckett was the standout for England, scoring a fluent 114 off 129 balls, decorated with 16 boundaries.
England looked to be in control, but Sajid Khan validated his inclusion in the squad, showing that the pitch was offering significant assistance to spinners.
Noman Ali (2-75) also contributed by taking two wickets.
Joe Root, who had recently become England’s highest run-scorer in Test cricket, was batting confidently until Sajid Khan outwitted the veteran, dismissing him for 34 off 54 balls.
Root’s wicket lifted Sajid’s spirits, and he soon followed up by removing Harry Brook, who had made history with a triple century in an earlier match, this time falling for a brisk run-a-ball knock.
England captain Ben Stokes, who arrived at the crease after Root, was quickly dismissed by Noman Ali, scoring just 1 from 5 balls.
Earlier in the innings, Ollie Pope and Zak Crawley added 29 and 27 runs, respectively.
Pakistan’s spinners dominated the proceedings, with Sajid Khan claiming four wickets. Noman Ali took two, while spinners Zahid Mahmood and Salman Agha are yet to make their mark on the wickets column.
The only fast bowler, Aamer Jamal, has yet to claim a wicket.
