MUZAFFARABAD: (Arqam Maqbool) – Azad Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Religious Affairs, Auqaf and Information, Muhammad Rafique Nayyar, on Tuesday paid tribute to Sain Saheli Sarkar, a renowned saint of Muzaffarabad, for spreading the message of love, sincerity, peace, and brotherhood.

“The teachings of saints are timeless—they remind us that compassion, peace, and brotherhood are the foundation of a strong community,” he said while inaugurating the nine-day celebrations of the 126th annual Urs at the venerated shrine located across the Press Club.

Nayyar laid a ceremonial chadar on the shrine and prayed for the elevation of the spiritual rank of the saint. “The legacy of saints is measured not by wealth or power, but by the hearts they touch and the lives they transform,” he added, urging religious scholars and spiritual leaders to promote harmony and guide communities in upholding peace and compassion.

Stating that devotees’ safety and convenience were a priority, he called for any shortcomings in arrangements to be promptly addressed.

The Urs celebrations will continue over nine days with mehfils-e-naat, mehfils-e-zikr, langar (public kitchen), and other spiritual gatherings. Special prayers will also be offered for the security and prosperity of the country. Prime Minister Raja Faisal Rathore is expected to participate in the concluding prayers.
