Sahibzada Hamid Alleges Imran Khan Was Offered 3-Year Stay Abroad Without Govt Knowledge
Islamabad – Sahibzada Hamid Raza, the chief of the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), made shocking claims on Wednesday, alleging that former Prime Minister Imran Khan was offered the opportunity to leave Pakistan for three years without the involvement of the government.
Speaking during a press interaction, Raza revealed that the offer to send the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder abroad was extended by sources outside the government soon after the general elections. He emphasized that neither the government nor its representatives were consulted regarding this proposition.
“The government had no role in this offer,” Raza asserted, expressing surprise at the lack of transparency in the matter. He also noted that despite multiple attempts to negotiate, locations such as Bani Gala or Zaman Park were never part of the discussions, leaving key issues unresolved.
Raza criticized the situation as confusing and said that the ambiguity had hindered meaningful discussions between the parties involved.
Talks on Judicial Commission
Raza also discussed the ongoing political talks, particularly regarding PTI’s demands. He revealed that during a meeting between the parties, the SIC inquired about the government’s stance, only to be met with a lack of clarity. He described the government’s reluctance to present any clear demands as “childish,” and suggested it reflected a lack of seriousness in resolving the political deadlock.
Raza stressed the need for establishing a judicial commission to address PTI’s concerns, warning that without it, future negotiations could be at risk. “If a judicial commission isn’t established in the third meeting, the fourth meeting might not happen,” he warned, signaling the fragile nature of the talks.
Govt Denies Involvement
In response to these claims, Barrister Aqeel Malik, the Advisor to the Government on Law and Justice, categorically denied any involvement in offering a deal to Imran Khan or PTI. Malik clarified that no proposals regarding Bani Gala, Zaman Park, or any other location were ever put forward by the government.
“PTI may have sought certain concessions, but there were no offers made by our side,” Malik stated, further accusing PTI of inconsistency, citing the party’s history of policy U-turns in negotiations.

Malik also mentioned that the government had suggested a compromise involving Sangjani, which he claimed PTI had rejected.
External Influences Speculated
Sahibzada Hamid Raza also speculated that possible external influences, rather than official government directives, might have played a role in certain actions taken by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. However, he refrained from elaborating further on these possible influences.
The ongoing political standoff in Pakistan continues to capture attention, with negotiations between the government and PTI still in a delicate phase.
