Saghar Condemns Amit Shah’s Statement, Defends Kashmiri Rights
Saghar takes strong exception to Amit Shah’s statement, says India cannot deprive Kashmiri of their rights and privileges
Islamabad: Acting Chairman Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, while taking strong exception to Indian Home minister’s statement, has said that as rightful citizens of the state it is an inalienable right of every Kashmir to pursue their career independently or seek jobs in public or private sector.
Terming Amit Shah’s statement as an age-old tactic to intimidate or terrorize Kashmiri people, Saghar said that India being an occupier has no authority whatsoever to deprive educated Kashmiri youth of jobs.
He said that it was quite unfortunate that New Delhi has been using mean tactics to pressurize Kashmiris. He said that after dismissing Kashmiri employees from government jobs, the apartheid regime has discovered yet another tactic to deprive Kashmiri youth of they rights and privileges they enjoy as Kashmiri citizens.
He said that using derogatory remarks against Kashmiris and branding them as terrorists or stone pelters won’t really help Modi and his cronies to hide the ground reality in Kashmir. “Those who challenge India’s control over the territory and express their anger against the belligerent occupation on the streets are freedom fighters”, Saghar said, adding that as per the UNCIP resolutions Indian government has a limited mandate to run day to day affairs in the region.
He said that according to the UN resolutions, India cannot act arbitrarily, nor can it take any action that affects the fundamental rights of ordinary Kashmiris.

He reminded the Indian minister that Kashmir is a disputed territory which awaits final settlement in line with the UNSC resolutions.
Meanwhile, the DFP leader expressed grave concern over the plight of the Kashmiri prisoners who have been languishing in different jails in and outside the Kashmir valley. He also voiced his concern over the declining health condition of the incarcerated party chairman Shabir Ahmed Shah and other Hurriyat leaders who have been left to rot in Tihar jail by the Indian government.
Saghar urged the world human rights organizations to take effective notice of the matter and play their due role to seek early release of Shah and others prisoners.
