Russian forces 30 kilometers from Sloviansk; 1,210 Ukrainian soldiers killed
Russia Claims Major Advances and Heavy Ukrainian Losses in Donbass
MOSCOW (Web Desk) – The Russian Defense Ministry has claimed in a statement that during the ongoing special military operation in Ukraine, Ukrainian forces have suffered a total of 1,210 casualties on various fronts in the past 24 hours, while the Russian Air Force, Missile Forces and artillery have also targeted drone assembly centers, energy and transport infrastructure and locations of foreign fighters.
According to the Defense Ministry, 175 Ukrainian military personnel were killed or wounded on the Northern Front, 200 on the Western Front, more than 135 on the Southern Front, while more than 455 on the Central Front, as well as 205 on the Eastern Front and about 40 on the Dnieper Front, with a total of 149 locations targeted in attacks on temporary positions and weapons and logistics support centers of the Ukrainian military.
On the other hand, the leadership of the Donetsk People’s Republic has stated that Russian forces are making significant advances in northern Donbass and have reached the historic and strategic city of Slavyansk. Denis Peshkin said that after taking control of the Zakotnoye area, the Russian army is now about 30 kilometers from Slavyansk, while fierce fighting is ongoing on the Grishino and Belitskoye fronts. The Russian army is also moving towards Dopropolia, which is an important logistics center for the Ukrainian army from where ammunition, drones and other equipment are supplied to the northern front.
Slavyansk is geographically located in the northern part of Donbass and is considered an important land node of the Ukrainian defense structure. The city forms a supply corridor between Konstantinovka, Kramatorsk and Krasny Lyman, and if Russia succeeds in advancing further here, the Ukrainian command in the entire northern Donbass may face severe pressure.
Russia threatens nuclear strikes if Ukraine war continues
Peshkin added that there have also been reports of Russian advances around Konstantinovka and that their forces have achieved some successes near the Kaliban Bakskoye water reservoir. There has been no official confirmation or denial of these reports from Ukraine yet, however, Kiev authorities have previously acknowledged that the situation in Donbass is complicated and pressure is increasing on the fronts.
