Pakistan – Russia – (Web Desk) – The Russian Ambassador to Pakistan, Albert Khorev, has praised Faiz Ahmad Faiz as one of Asia’s most celebrated poets, whose people-centered poetry earned widespread admiration in the former Soviet Union and continues to resonate in Russia today.
In a video message marking Faiz’s 115th birth anniversary, Ambassador Khorev said the poet’s work played a crucial role in inspiring national liberation movements across the Third World, challenging Western colonial rule and imperialism. He added that Faiz’s poetry made significant contributions to struggles for political and religious freedom in parts of Asia and Africa during anti-colonial movements.
The message was shared at a special ceremony hosted by the Russian Centre for Science, Education, and Culture, organized in collaboration with the Association of Pakistani Graduates from Russia and CIS, and the Pakistan–Russia Friendship Forum. The event was presided over by Dr. Nadeem Bhatti, Vice Chancellor of Leads University, with Punjab Libraries Director General Kashif Manzoor as the chief guest.
