Russia earns $9B from energy exports amid Iran war

Russia gains billions as oil prices rise during Middle East conflict

Russia – (Web Desk) – Russia seems to be gaining the most money during the current energy crisis. This situation became worse after the US and Israeli airstrikes on Iran.

In just the first 15 days of the conflict, Russia earned more than €7.7 billion from fuel exports. Rising oil prices around the world helped increase its income. At the same time, the easing of US sanctions on Russian crude also supported this growth.

Data from the Center for Research on Energy and Clean Air shows that Russia’s oil exports went up by 14 percent during these 15 days. Daily earnings from oil reached about €372 million.

When oil, gas, and coal are combined, Russia’s total daily energy income reached €513 million. This is higher than €472 million per day recorded in February 2026.

Oil prices have skyrocketed since Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz, a key oil route through which nearly 20 percent of the global oil supply passes. It was closed after the U.S. and Israel launched an unproved war against Iran.

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump issued a 30-day waiver on sanctions against Russian oil despite concerns from the European leaders.

EU leaders have urged the U.S. president to reconsider the waiver, warning that it could financially benefit Russia, which in turn, would harm Ukraine amid the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
