ISLAMABAD: The ruling coalition has devised a comprehensive strategy to secure the approval of the National Assembly for the upcoming financial year’s budget.
The coalition is confident that the budget debate, starting today (Thursday) in the National Assembly, will culminate in approval by June 30 following a ten-day process. Leader of the Opposition Umar Ayub Khan will kick off the debate this evening, which is set to unfold over five days of sessions.
The ruling coalition has resolved to refrain from interrupting speeches by the opposition leader and his key members. However, concerns linger about potential disruptions from opposition members during government addresses.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari are expected to meet prior to the session to address PPP’s concerns. Economic Affairs Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, former Federal Minister Syed Naveed Qamar, and Shazia Murri will also participate in the discussions.
