Rubio Says Iran Serious But Talks Face Challenges
Marco Rubio Signals Hope And Hurdles In US Iran Talks
WASHINGTON: (Web Desk) – Marco Rubio has said he believes Iranian negotiators are genuinely interested in reaching an agreement with the United States, as they seek a way out of the current crisis. Speaking in an interview with Fox News, Rubio noted that while negotiators appear serious, internal disunity within Iran’s leadership remains a key obstacle to progress.
He added that Iran’s leadership is looking for more time amid mounting domestic challenges. According to Rubio, the country is grappling with severe economic strain, including high inflation, financial difficulties in paying public sector workers, and ongoing drought conditions that are worsening the situation.
Rubio also claimed that Iran’s military capabilities have been significantly weakened, alleging that missile production facilities have been damaged and that both its air force and navy are in a diminished state.

When asked about potential next steps if negotiations fail, Rubio said the decision would ultimately rest with Donald Trump. He emphasized that existing economic sanctions on Iran are already intense and suggested that additional pressure could be applied if needed.
He further argued that the ongoing conflict highlights what he described as a broader global threat posed by Iran, accusing the country of leveraging its energy resources to exert influence, a strategy he said the international community cannot accept.
