Rs. 42.7 Billion Allocated for Green Line BRT Project Karachi
Green Line BRT: A Reliable and Affordable Mass Transit Solution for Karachi's Growing Population
According to official documents, the allocations are divided between two major components of the project:
- Rs. 29.19 billion has been allocated for the continued development of the Green Line BRT project, which was originally approved by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) in 2017.
- An additional Rs. 13.50 billion has been earmarked for the operational phase of the Green Line BRT, approved by ECNEC in 2020. This includes costs related to fleet operations, maintenance, management systems, and infrastructure support.
The Green Line BRT is a key component of Karachi’s mass transit strategy and provides a reliable, efficient, and affordable public transport solution for the city’s growing population.
Once fully operational and integrated with other transport lines, the BRT is expected to significantly reduce travel times, ease traffic congestion, and lower carbon emissions.
