Rs. 2 Billion Bailout Package Approved for Pakistan’s Top University
The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) directed that these funds be disbursed immediately
ISLAMABAD: The federal government has approved a bailout package worth Rs. 2 billion for Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) in Islamabad.
According to reports, the Finance Ministry has already allowed the release of 25 percent of the amount — Rs. 500 million — as the first installment.
The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) directed that these funds be disbursed immediately, while also instructing the Education Ministry to conduct a detailed review of the university’s revenue and expenditure.

Additionally, QAU has been asked to resubmit its sustainability plan, with the Education Ministry emphasizing the need for a comprehensive strategy to ensure the university’s long-term financial stability.
It is worth noting that the Rs. 2 billion bailout package for Quaid-i-Azam University was originally announced in the federal budget for the fiscal year 2025–26.
