Rs 1300b subsidy for various sectors in next budget

The federal government has proposed to allocate Rs 1300 billion as a subsidy for the various sectors in the next budget 2023-24,

According to sources, a subsidy of Rs 53.6 billion is proposed for the petroleum sector, while a subsidy of Rs 30 billion has been proposed for providing RLNG to domestic consumers.

In the upcoming budget, a subsidy of Rs 55.5 billion has been allocated for food security.   Sources said that an amount of Rs 8 billion has been proposed as a subsidy for Attock Petroleum Limited and Rs 5 billion rupees for the Pak-Arab pipeline in the budget.

Likewise, a subsidy of Rs 30 billion will be given to provide cheap goods to the masses from utility stores. A subsidy of Rs 5 billion has been proposed for Ramadan relief, while a subsidy of Rs 10.5 billion is proposed for the supply of wheat to Gilgit-Baltistan.

Sources say that a subsidy of 10 billion rupees has been given to Pasco for the supply of wheat to the flour mills. A subsidy proposal of Rs 12.2 billion is under consideration for Mera Ghar Mera Pakistan.

Similarly, a subsidy of Rs 7 billion will be given to write off loans of flood-affected farmers. An amount of Rs 11 billion has been proposed as a subsidy for PSO’s price differential claim.

A subsidy of Rs 500 million has been allocated for Naya Pakistan Housing. A subsidy of Rs 2 billion has been planned for Islamabad’s metro bus service.
