Rohit & Virat Kohli Likely to Lose A Plus Central Contract Status

The main reason for this is that they are currently playing only one format of the game.

NEW DELHI: Former Indian cricket captains Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli may see a downgrade in their central contracts, according to reports.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had awarded central contracts to players in April this year. However, both Rohit Sharma and Kohli are unlikely to retain their A Plus category contracts. The main reason for this is that they are currently playing only one format of the game.

Indian media reports state that due to playing a single format, both players have fewer matches scheduled, which affects their contract status. Players in the A Plus category receive 7 crore Indian rupees annually.

If Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are downgraded, their annual pay would decrease from 7 crore to 5 crore Indian rupees.
