Rizwan Calls for Focus on PSL After Pakistan’s Whitewash Against New Zealand

A disappointing series for us. Babar played well, scoring two fifties, Rizwan said.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s captain Mohammad Rizwan has urged his team and fans to move past the disappointing 3-0 whitewash loss in the ODI series against New Zealand and focus on the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10.

Speaking in a candid post-match conference, Rizwan expressed his frustration with the series result but acknowledged New Zealand’s superior performance across all areas of the game. Despite Babar Azam’s two half-centuries, New Zealand’s dominance in crucial moments led to their victory.

“A disappointing series for us. Babar played well, scoring two fifties. I give credit to New Zealand in all three departments. It’s difficult conditions for us here, but they played well in Asian conditions as well. If you lose, you can’t say much like that. NZ won the key moments,” Rizwan said.

With the loss behind them, Rizwan emphasized the importance of focusing on the PSL. “After the Champions Trophy and this series, we’ll leave the past behind. PSL is a big tournament for us, and hopefully, we’ll give the people something to cheer about,” he added.

The third ODI saw Pakistan chasing a target of 265 in a rain-affected match, where they fell short by 43 runs, bowled out for 221. Despite some resistance from Babar Azam, Agha Salman, and Rizwan, New Zealand’s total proved too much for Pakistan. Rhys Mariu and Michael Bracewell guided New Zealand to a total of 264-8.
