Relief Cheques Distributed to Families of Tarlai Imambargah Martyrs

The premier had announced the relief package during his visit to the Tarlai Imambargah on February 11.

ISLAMABAD: Relief cheques have been handed over to the families of those martyred in the February 6 suicide attack at the Tarlai Imambargah in Islamabad.

The assistance, announced by the Prime Minister, was provided to the heirs of the victims. Each of the 36 affected families received Rs5 million as compensation. Authorities also began distributing cheques to the families of four other martyrs belonging to Tunsa Sharif, Talagang, Astor and Skardu.

The premier had announced the relief package during his visit to the Tarlai Imambargah on February 11. At least 35 people were martyred when a suicide bomber attempted to enter the Imambargah during Friday prayers.

Meanwhile, investigators revealed key details about the attacker. According to official sources, the suicide bomber was identified as 25-year-old Yasir. He allegedly used four to six kilograms of explosives packed with ball bearings.

Sources said the attacker fired two shots before entering the mosque and six more inside before detonating his suicide jacket. Police recovered all bullet casings from the site.

Authorities further disclosed that the suspect had been missing from his home for more than a year and had only occasional phone contact with his family during that time.
