Real Madrid’s Struggles Deepen After Another Heavy Loss

Ancelotti's Squad Faces Mounting Pressure Following Loss to AC Milan

Santiago Bernabeu-(Sports Reporter): Real Madrid’s crisis continues to worsen following a crushing 4-0 defeat to Barcelona in October’s Clasico, with Los Blancos now suffering a 3-1 loss to AC Milan in their latest Champions League outing at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The defeat has intensified scrutiny on manager Carlo Ancelotti, as the team’s recent poor form threatens to unravel their season. Despite high-profile players like Kylian Mbappe, Madrid’s squad has struggled to find rhythm, exposing defensive and midfield weaknesses.

Defensive Troubles and Mbappe’s Goal Drought

Madrid’s defensive frailties are becoming glaring, with nine goals conceded across their last three home matches. Key defenders, including Dani Carvajal and Ferland Mendy, are either sidelined with injuries or off their peak form, while Eder Militao has yet to reach full fitness. Additionally, the midfield has lost cohesion, particularly felt since the departure of Toni Kroos, whose playmaking skills are sorely missed.

Offensively, Kylian Mbappe’s recent performances are causing concern. The star forward, who joined from PSG in the summer, has managed only one goal in his last six matches—a concerning stat for someone expected to drive Madrid’s attack. Ancelotti has also faced challenges integrating Jude Bellingham into a consistent role, with the young Englishman yet to replicate last season’s success.

Ancelotti Under Pressure

Following the Milan loss, Ancelotti acknowledged the team’s lack of organization as a significant issue, admitting, “The players need to step up, and I do too.” He emphasized the importance of unity and defensive organization.

Real Madrid now trails Barcelona by nine points in La Liga, adding to the pressure on Ancelotti. Former player and coach Jorge Valdano highlighted Madrid’s lack of balance in midfield, noting, “Kroos’ absence has been underestimated—Madrid can’t compensate for that, even with some of the world’s best players.”

Upcoming Matches Present Redemption Opportunity

As Real Madrid looks to regroup, upcoming La Liga matches against Osasuna and Leganes after the international break offer a chance to bounce back. However, a challenging Champions League encounter against Liverpool at Anfield lies ahead, promising another tough test for Ancelotti and his underperforming squad.
