Rawalpindi Traffic Police Introduces New Traffic Plan Amid Twin Cities Shutdown
The motorways connecting Peshawar and Lahore have been reopened for general traffic
Rawalpindi — In response to ongoing shutdowns in the twin cities, Rawalpindi Traffic Police has issued a new traffic management plan to ease congestion and facilitate movement.
Faizabad remains completely closed for the third consecutive day, causing significant disruption. Out of 43 major points in Rawalpindi, six remain fully closed while 35 have been partially reopened to improve traffic flow.
Key areas such as Dhoke Kala Khan, Double Road, Six Road, Chandni Chowk, Waris Khan, and Committee Chowk have been reopened. Partial openings have also been made at Liaqat Bagh, Saddar, M.H. Chowk, Kalma Chowk, Rahimabad, and Fatah Jang Interchange.
Additionally, Korala Chowk, Mandrah Toll Plaza, Chakwal Road, Dhultala, and Gujar Khan have been partially opened to traffic.
The motorways connecting Peshawar and Lahore have been reopened for general traffic, along with routes from Lahore to Multan, Islamabad, and Sialkot, providing relief and convenience for commuters traveling between cities.

However, the ongoing closure of the Grand Trunk Road (GT Road) due to the protests continues to cause severe difficulties for the public.
The reopening of key motorways is expected to ease travel for many residents, but the persistent blockades are still impacting daily life and transport significantly.
