Child freed from locked room after timely rescue

Rawalpindi-(Special Correspondent/Web desk) Rawalpindi police have taken Umair Rashid into custody for allegedly abusing his minor daughter and have handed the girl over to the Child Protection Bureau for safety. The Dhamaial Police Station has registered a case against the father and his wife, accusing them of torturing and injuring the child at their home in Mir Haider Colony. The FIR notes that officers were informed via the 15 helpline about the abuse, the child’s wounds, and an argument between the couple.

The report states that when neighbors confronted Umair Rashid about the alleged abuse of his daughter, he became angry, locked the house, and left with his wife and children. Moments later, the neighbors heard the girl screaming and banging on the door, which prompted them to call the police.

With the help of neighbors, police entered the house and found the injured girl trapped inside a locked room. She was immediately rescued and taken to safety.

Police have registered a case against the suspects under charges of illegal confinement and physical abuse of a child.
