Rawalpindi: In a major crackdown on corruption, poor performance, and disciplinary violations, the Rawalpindi District Health Authority has dismissed 16 additional employees. The dismissal process for another 200 employees is currently underway.
Dr. Ehsan Ghani, CEO of Health Rawalpindi, revealed that 14 employees had one month’s salary deducted as a penalty for substandard performance and violations, while increments for three others were withheld.
Meanwhile, former CEO Dr. Ansar Ishaq has filed a Rs. 20 million damages claim against the current CEO Dr. Ehsan Ghani, based on negative remarks made in the Johar Aqeel case report.
Sources have also exposed large-scale illegal recruitments in the health authority, including 1,500 sanitary patrol workers and 62 entomologists. Although the Punjab Health Department demanded a report within three days, investigations have yet to begin even after three months.
Inquiry officer Dr. Moez Manzoor stated that he is currently deployed on flood duty but will start the investigation upon his return. However, sources suggest deliberate delays in probing the matter to cover up the issue. Official correspondence for the inquiry dates back to October 24, 2024, with subsequent reminders sent on January 8 and April 16, 2025.

Last fiscal year, temporary sanitary workers were hired for 89 days, and interviews for entomologist positions were scheduled for April 1. A committee formed in July completed scrutiny by July 30, issuing appointment letters to 1,500 candidates the following day.
