Ramadan 2026 Begins February 19 After Moon Sighted Nationwide

Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Confirms Ramadan Moon Across Pakistan

Peshawar (Web Desk) – The crescent moon marking the start of Ramadan 2026 has been sighted in Peshawar and across Pakistan, confirming February 19 as the first day of fasting.

The announcement was made by Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad following a meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee. The session was attended by Hafiz Abdul Quddus, DG Ministry of Religious Affairs, Shaukat Ullah from SUPARCO, Dr. Hasan Ali Baig from the Meteorological Department, and Zain-ul-Abidin from the Ministry of Science and Technology. Zonal committee meetings were simultaneously held in Islamabad and other provincial capitals.

Peshawar Ruet-e-Hilal Committee To Sight Ramadan Moon

According to Mufti Atiqullah, the first five confirmed moon sighting reports came from Upper Dir and six from District Mohmand, with a total of 40 reports received by the committee. Prior to the announcement, Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad urged citizens to sight the moon themselves to ensure a synchronized start of Ramadan across the country.

The crescent has also been sighted in Bangladesh and India, where February 19 will similarly mark the beginning of fasting.
