Rainfall Expected in Rawalpindi and Islamabad from October 5 to 8
Gilgit-Baltistan, AJK, KP, and Punjab to experience rainfall; Sindh remains hot and dry
The twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, along with other northern regions, are expected to experience rainfall from October 5 to 8 due to an incoming westerly weather system.
This rain spell is projected to impact areas such as Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and the northern parts of Balochistan. Meanwhile, Sindh will continue to face hot and dry weather.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) in Punjab has instructed local authorities to stay alert and prepare drainage systems and personnel in anticipation of the rain. Officials are closely monitoring the situation and have urged the public to avoid old or unsafe buildings.
According to a weather advisory, moderate to heavy rainfall could lead to rising water levels in local streams and nullahs in areas such as Murree, Galliyat, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Kohistan, Chitral, and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan. Landslides could disrupt travel in susceptible regions.
Furthermore, windstorms and lightning may pose risks to weak structures, such as mud houses, electric poles, and vehicles.
The Met Office has predicted rain and thunderstorms, with possible isolated hailstorms, in districts including Rawalpindi, Lahore, Sialkot, and Faisalabad on October 5, 7, and 8. Intermittent showers are also expected in Sahiwal and nearby areas from October 6 to 8.
In AJK, heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected in areas like Neelum Valley and Muzaffarabad, while similar weather is forecasted for Skardu and Hunza in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Rain and thunderstorms are expected across various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while parts of Balochistan, including Quetta, may also see rain and storms over the weekend.
