Qureshi Says Bound by PTI Policy but Stresses Need for Dialogue

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Friday said he could not take a position outside party policy when asked about supporting Fawad Chaudhry’s proposed National Dialogue Committee, while emphasising that dialogue remains vital for the country’s progress.

Speaking informally to journalists inside a Lahore courtroom, Qureshi said that as PTI’s vice chairman he was obliged to follow party decisions. At the same time, he said Pakistan needed to seriously consider solutions to its ongoing challenges, adding that despite periods of resistance, reconciliation eventually takes place.

He stressed that meaningful dialogue was the only way forward for the country, saying that engagement and discussion were essential to achieving stability and progress.
