Qatar Officially Recognises CPSP Fellowships for Pakistani Doctors

Pakistani Doctors Granted Easier Licensing as Qatar Recognises CPSP

DOHA: (Web Desk) – : Qatar has officially recognised the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) and upgraded the licensing category for Pakistani doctors, sources confirmed on Monday. This move marks a major shift in Qatar’s medical accreditation policy, as CPSP fellowships will now be given preferential recognition.

Under the new framework, Pakistani doctors are exempt from Prometric examinations, simplifying the licensing process for qualified professionals. The decision follows a comprehensive review by Qatari authorities of CPSP’s qualifications, training programs, and professional standards.

As part of the recognition, Qatar has approved CPSP’s First Fellowship in basic specialties as a valid qualification for medical licensing. CPSP’s Second Fellowship in basic sub-specialties has also been accepted and placed in the second category of accredited specialty certificates.

Diplomatic sources clarified that doctors must first hold a First Fellowship in the relevant primary specialty to qualify for recognition of the Second Fellowship. The development is expected to enhance opportunities for Pakistani medical professionals in Qatar while strengthening bilateral cooperation in the health sector.
