Putlerism, racism, Velikorus ideology

By: NAHID JANBAKHISHLI WRITES

The fact that the Federal Security Service of Russia raided the home of Azerbaijanis in the city of Yekaterinburg, Russia, on the morning of June 27, tortured and killed 5 people, left dozens of others to death, and subjected them to repressions, rightly angered each of us. Although our compatriots who were victims of torture were Russian citizens, we, as a people and a state, stood up for them and supported them. We are putting together a very beautiful unity, both as a state and a people…

…After what happened, we once again remembered and relived Russia’s historical relations with Azerbaijan. The well-known crime in Yekaterinburg is not the first, and probably will not be the last. There is a terrible chronology of crimes against our people by Russia, which has elevated racism to the level of its national ideology.

The Russian attack on Azerbaijan dates back to the 9th century. Since there is detailed information on the Internet about the attacks that continued until 1800, we do not want to go into details. The Russian attacks that determined the fate of Azerbaijan date back to the beginning of the 19th century. The Karabakh Khan, who accepted vassalage from the Russians in 1805 with the Kurekchay Treaty, was murdered less than a year later – on June 12, 1806, near Shusha, along with 17 family members. Russia, which occupied Azerbaijan again in 1920, began mass repressions and executions 15 years later. We have long been aware of Russia’s crimes against humanity, which are killing our compatriots in the name of investigating a criminal incident that occurred in Yekaterinburg 20 years ago. If we were to investigate Russia’s crimes, they would hardly be able to escape the punishment that will be meted out… Unfortunately, in our world, justice does not have the power, but power has the justice.

The racist policy of Russia, continued by Putlerism, today spreads hatred, hatred, and blood all around. Attacks, murders, new lands, destroying, dividing peoples, dominating them… This is the essence of Great Russian chauvinism. As the famous publicist Nevrozov noted, patriotism, chauvinism, and imperialism are like alcohol that replaces everything for the Russian people. The Kremlin, suffering from political alcoholism, poisoned, and infected with an incurable infectious disease, is following the path that Hitler’s Germany once took. The path that brought tragedies to the world and ultimately led Germany into the abyss.

The political leadership of Azerbaijan, which understands the essence of the Kremlin’s policy well and correctly predicts the steps it will take, knows what to do when and how. By liberating Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur, we took away Russia’s levers in the South Caucasus. With this victory, we also destroyed their influence in Armenia. They do not like Russia in the countries of the South Caucasus. They do not like Russia in the world. Who would love a country that militarily invades the territory of Ukraine, which carries the same religion, language, and blood, turns cities into ruins, kills hundreds of thousands of people, and displaces millions of people from their homelands…

In the current situation, the crimes committed against Azerbaijanis in Russia may have several purposes.

Firstly, Russia, which has not been able to achieve success on the Ukrainian front and has even suffered heavy losses, wants to distract attention by inciting national hatred within itself.

Secondly, Putin wants to gain the support of Russians and thereby prolong the life of his rule by inciting nationalism in Russia.

Third, the Kremlin, fearing that the last levers of influence in the region will be eliminated after the signing of a possible peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia, is putting pressure on our country by deporting migrants in Russia in one way or another. It is sending a message that if we deport Azerbaijanis from Russia en masse, social tension will arise in Azerbaijan.

The independent foreign policy of the Azerbaijani state irritates Russia. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has taken a very bold stance against Russia. The statement “We support the territorial integrity of Ukraine” is the most convincing answer given to the Kremlin. Azerbaijan’s support for Ukraine is highly appreciated by the civilized world.

Official Baku reacted to the inhumane treatment of our compatriots in Yekaterinburg as soon as the incident occurred. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expects Russia to conduct an urgent investigation into the matter and bring the perpetrators of this unacceptable violence to justice in the shortest possible time. The Chargé d’Affaires of the Russian Embassy in Azerbaijan, Pyotr Volokovykh, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and an open protest was expressed to him. The visit of Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexei Overchuk to Azerbaijan, scheduled for the end of June, was canceled.
