Putin Says Pakistan Is a Close and Trusted Partner
Pakistan’s new envoy presents credentials in Moscow, as Putin highlights ties and cooperation across trade, energy, education, and people-to-people links.
Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Russian Federation, formally presented his credentials to Russian President Vladimir Putin during a dignified ceremony held at the Grand Kremlin Palace on Friday.
During the event, Ambassador Tirmizi conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from the President, the Prime Minister, and the people of Pakistan to President Putin, according to an official press release.
President Putin described Pakistan as a close partner of Russia and welcomed the steady growth in bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade, diplomacy, commerce, education, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, railways, industry, health, and information technology.

Ambassador Tirmizi assumed charge of Pakistan’s diplomatic mission in Moscow on October 26, 2025. His tenure will prioritize strengthening Pakistan-Russia relations across key areas of mutual interest, including energy, trade, connectivity, culture, education, and enhanced people-to-people exchanges.
He also places a high priority on engaging with and supporting the Pakistani diaspora across the Russian Federation.
A distinguished career diplomat, he joined the Foreign Service of Pakistan in 1995 and has held various key positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in Pakistan’s missions abroad, including assignments in Turkmenistan, the United States, the United Nations and the United Arab Emirates. He previously served as the Ambassador of Pakistan to the Kyrgyz Republic (2018-2019) and the United Arab Emirates (2022–2025).

In recognition of his diplomatic services and contributions to international cooperation, Ambassador Tirmizi was honored with the First-Class Order of Zayed II, conferred by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.
He is also a recipient of the SCO-RATS Award for his work within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
