Punjab to Recruit 3,599 Nurses Through PPSC to Tackle Shortage in Teaching Hospitals

Lahore — In a significant move to address the acute shortage of nurses in government teaching hospitals, the Punjab Health Department has decided to recruit 3,599 nurses through the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC).

The Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department has formally sent a request to the Secretary of PPSC, urging the commission to expedite the recruitment process to ensure timely placement of nursing staff across the province.

According to officials, teaching hospitals in Punjab are currently facing a critical shortage of nursing staff, which is adversely affecting patient care and treatment outcomes. The recruitment drive aims to fill this gap and strengthen the healthcare system.

“The shortage of nurses is a serious concern, and we are working on priority to resolve it,” a spokesperson for the department said. “Recruiting through PPSC will ensure a transparent and merit-based process.”
