Punjab to Launch Province-Wide Anti-Polio Campaign December 15

Over 23 Million Children to Be Vaccinated in Punjab Polio Drive

LAHORE: The Punjab government will launch a province-wide national anti-polio campaign from December 15 to 30, 2025, aiming to vaccinate millions of children against the virus.

An online meeting of the Provincial Task Force for Polio Eradication was chaired by Minister for Health and Population Khawaja Imran Nazir. The meeting was attended by Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Chief Minister’s Focal Person for Polio Azma Kardar, deputy commissioners, secretaries of the Home, Health and Education departments, as well as international representatives working on polio eradication.

Khawaja Imran Nazir congratulated commissioners, deputy commissioners, CEOs of health departments and polio teams for achieving previous eradication targets. The meeting reviewed preparations for the upcoming campaign starting December 15.

The health minister directed authorities to ensure full security for polio teams, stressing that vaccinating every child is essential to prevent the spread of the virus. He also emphasized the need to focus on children who are often missed during campaigns.

Punjab Polio Eradication Programme head Adeel Taswar briefed the meeting, stating that more than 23.3 million children will be vaccinated during the campaign, with over 200,000 polio workers deployed across the province.
