Punjab seeks a ban on TLP following violent protest.
Authorities deploy thousands of police and plan mass arrests to stop planned radical group protests.
Punjab – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) – Authorities have sent over 42,000 police officers across Punjab to stop a radical group, Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), from holding protests. The police plan to arrest the group’s leaders and activists to prevent demonstrations planned for after Friday prayers. The government fears the protests could turn violent and cause widespread chaos.
The Punjab government has decided to ask the national government to officially ban the TLP. They also plan to put the group’s leaders on a special watch list under the Anti-Terrorism Act. This comes after intelligence reports warned that group members might clash with law enforcement.
In a major operation, police are working to find and arrest TLP leaders who have gone into hiding. Senior officers held meetings to plan a large-scale crackdown. They have identified several locations in Lahore as sensitive areas that have been centers of violent attacks in the past.
The police chief has issued a strong warning, stating that anyone who attacks officers or damages public property will be dealt with firmly. All public gatherings have been officially banned across the province. Those who break the law will face serious terrorism charges, which can lead to long prison sentences.

The government has also decided to take over all properties and assets belonging to the TLP, handing them to the Auqaf Department. There will be a complete ban on the group’s posters and advertisements. Additionally, all of the group’s bank accounts will be frozen, and social media accounts spreading hate speech will be removed.
