Punjab Schools To Hold Summer Camps During Vacations
Punjab Government Approves Summer Camps During Extended School Vacations Period
LAHORE: (Web Desk) – The Punjab Government has decided to introduce summer camps in schools for one month during the ongoing summer vacations to help students complete their academic syllabus and overcome learning gaps caused by extended closures due to extreme heat.
Rana Sikandar Hayat announced that the summer camps will begin in the first week of the holidays and will be organized in schools throughout the province under a limited schedule.
According to the education minister, the camps will operate daily from 7:30am to 9:30am to ensure students and teachers remain protected from the intense weather conditions currently affecting Punjab.
He explained that the main objective of the initiative is to complete the academic syllabus and maintain continuity in educational activities before the next academic term begins.
Rana Sikandar Hayat said the Punjab Cabinet had already approved three months of summer vacations due to the worsening heatwave and rising temperatures across the province.
Punjab announces summer vacations from May 22 to August 23
He added that schools were closed until August 23 as a safety measure aimed at protecting students, teachers and school staff from severe weather conditions.
Despite the prolonged holidays, the provincial government wants to ensure that students do not face academic setbacks. The minister noted that the camps will allow schools to conduct revision classes, academic support sessions and syllabus completion activities in a controlled and safer environment during the cooler morning hours.
The education minister further revealed that the government is also considering a proposal to end Saturday holidays in schools after summer vacations conclude. If approved, the measure would help educational institutions recover academic time lost during the extended break.
