Punjab Launches Green Property Certificate System in Eight Districts to Secure Land Ownership
In a major step toward land reform, the Punjab government has introduced the Green Property Certificate system in eight districts as part of its ongoing land reform initiative. The first phase of the project covers Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat and Wazirabad, with plans to extend the system to other districts in later phases.
The Green Property Certificate aims to safeguard citizens’ property ownership and curb fraudulent practices in land transactions. Issued directly by the Punjab government, the certificates are designed to ensure authenticity and enhance transparency in property records.
Chairman of the Punjab Land Records Authority (PLRA) described the initiative as a “game-changing” reform, saying it would provide strong legal protection to property owners and significantly reduce land-related disputes.
The government believes the new system will boost public confidence, simplify land dealings and contribute to a more secure and transparent property management framework across the province.
