Lahore, May 7, 2025 – A notification circulating on social media claiming an extension of school holidays due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan has been confirmed as fake. Punjab’s Provincial Information Minister, Azma Bokhari, clarified that no decision has been made regarding an extension of school holidays.
In a statement, Bokhari emphasized that the viral notification was false and that any future decisions regarding school closures would be based on the evolving situation.
The confusion comes after heightened tensions between the two countries. Last night, the Punjab government announced that all public and private educational institutions in Lahore and across the province would remain closed on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, following an Indian airstrike targeting multiple locations in Pakistan-administered Kashmir and Punjab.
India’s airstrikes reportedly hit sites including Kotli, Ahmadpur East, Muzaffarabad, Bagh, and Muridke. In response, Pakistan’s military successfully shot down two Indian fighter jets and destroyed an Indian brigade headquarters and a checkpost along the Line of Control (LoC).
