Punjab CM inspects construction work on controlled access corridor Band Road Lahore
Lahore_The caretaker Punjab government on Wednesday made important decisions regarding the support prices of wheat and sugarcane, aiming to ensure fair compensation for the hard work of farmers.
Addressing a press conference, interim Provincial Minister of Local Government and Information, Aamir Mir, and interim Provincial Agriculture Minister, SM Tanveer, shared the outcomes of a meeting chaired by caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi.
During the meeting, the wheat support price was fixed at Rs4,000 per maund for the farmers and markets, while the sugarcane support price was fixed at Rs 400 per maund.
Additionally, a release policy for wheat was approved, which also includes a decision to discontinue the quota system for wheat release, aiming to streamline the distribution process and stabilize flour prices in the market.
Interim Provincial Agriculture Minister SM Tanveer elaborated on the ambitious agricultural targets for Punjab, highlighting a cultivation goal of wheat on 16 million acres of land with a production target of 40 maunds per acre. The support price for wheat has been fixed at Rs 4,000 per maund, and the release price for flour mills has been fixed at Rs 4,700 per maund.
When questioned about the government’s priorities, caretaker provincial minister Amir Mir emphasized the government’s commitment to safeguarding the interests of farmers rather than businesses. He reassured the public that the government is dedicated to making timely decisions that compensate farmers for their hard work and will consistently review the situation every fortnight.
In a separate announcement, Provincial Minister Amir Mir shared that the caretaker government of Punjab is actively working on programs for the welfare of journalists. He hinted at good news to be delivered by the Chief Minister at the start of the new year, underscoring the government’s commitment to supporting various sectors and ensuring the well-being of its citizens.

Mohsin Naqvi visited the Band Road controlled access corridor project and inspected the route from Sigiyan to Babu Sabu Interchange on Wednesday,
During his visit, Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi also reviewed the ongoing construction activities on the project and directed to speed up the construction works of the project.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister gave instructions to further widen the roads of the project by removing encroachments around the struts.
Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi inspected the project site at Babu Sabu and instructed to improve the design.
“An immediate plan should be presented by improving the design”, Mohsin Naqvi instructed.
He directed good management should be done during construction work for traffic flow.
On the occasion Chief Minister was briefed about the progress on the project.
Commissioner Lahore Division, CCPO, Deputy Commissioner, DIG Operations, Contractors of both the packages and concerned authorities were also present.
