Punjab Education Department Introduces New SOPs for Teachers’ LPR Cases
According to the new mechanism, incomplete LPR cases will no longer be accepted.
ISLAMABAD: The Punjab Education Department has issued new standard operating procedures (SOPs) for processing Leave Preparatory to Retirement (LPR) cases of teachers, aiming to address delays and close procedural gaps.
According to the new mechanism, incomplete LPR cases will no longer be accepted. The department has made it mandatory to submit a complete checklist with every application to ensure transparency and efficiency in the process.
All required documents must now be formally verified by the relevant District Education Officer (DEO) or Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Officials have also been instructed to provide clear and specific recommendations, replacing vague remarks that often lead to unnecessary delays.

The notification states that any LPR case submitted without complete documentation will be returned. Teachers applying for LPR are required to attach their service book, appointment letters, promotion notifications, salary slips, and a complete record of leave availed.
The department has warned that district officers will be held accountable for any delays in processing LPR cases. Authorities believe the new SOPs will streamline the retirement process for teachers and ensure timely clearance of LPR applications across the province.
