Punjab Dominates Quaid-e-Azam Games as Athletics, Kabaddi, and Judo Events Heat Up
ISLAMABAD: The Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Provincial Games 2024 have entered their final stage, with Punjab continuing to showcase impressive performances, claiming several gold medals across various sports. As the event nears its conclusion tomorrow (Thursday), the excitement at the Pakistan Sports Complex remains high, with athletics, Kabaddi, and Judo competitions providing thrilling action.
Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC), Rana Sanaullah, is set to attend the closing ceremony, which will begin at 1:30pm today.
In athletics, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) took the lead in the men’s category, securing 12 medals, including five golds, while Punjab followed closely with 11 medals. Key moments included Punjab’s Muhammad Hasnain dominating the 100m and 200m events, while KP’s Ataullah triumphed in the 400m. The men’s 4x100m relay saw Punjab clinching gold with a time of 42.90 seconds. In the women’s events, Sindh emerged as the standout province, bagging 7 medals, with Iqra Riaz securing double gold in the 100m and 200m races.
Kabaddi enthusiasts were also treated to intense competition at the Amir Khan Boxing Hall. Punjab and KP proved their dominance, with KP defeating Sindh 40-24 in one of the day’s most closely contested matches. Punjab’s Kabaddi team crushed Balochistan 55-11, solidifying their top position in the sport.
In Judo, athletes from Punjab and Balochistan stole the show, with Balochistan’s Maqsood Ahmed and Khan Noor winning gold in their respective weight categories. Punjab followed with stellar performances, including three golds in the women’s category, thanks to Syeda Javeria, Hifza Iftikhar, and Aima Adnan.

As the final day approaches, Punjab’s consistent victories across multiple disciplines have firmly placed them in the lead, while the other provinces continue to fight for podium finishes in a variety of events.
