Punjab Deport Over 31,000 Afghans, Other Foreigners in Ongoing Repatriation Drive

LAHORE: Punjab Police have so far deported 31,377 Afghans and other foreign nationals from across the province, including Lahore, as part of an ongoing campaign to repatriate foreigners residing illegally, officials said on Saturday.

According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, 46 holding points have been established across the province, where 203 foreigners are currently being accommodated prior to repatriation.

Providing a breakdown, the spokesperson said that those deported include 11,576 men, 6,679 women, and 13,133 children. Among them, 10,043 individuals held Proof of Registration (PoR) cards, 11,067 possessed Afghan Citizen Cards (ACC), while 10,267 were living in the province illegally, he added.

Punjab Inspector General of Police Usman Anwar said security across the province has been placed on high alert to ensure the smooth and safe continuation of the deportation process.

“We are making every effort to ensure the deportation of all illegal immigrants,” the IGP said, stressing that human rights are not being violated during the repatriation process.

The authorities said the operation will continue until all undocumented foreign nationals are repatriated in accordance with the law.
