Punjab CM orders cancellation of Basant events following Islamabad blast

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz cancels all Basant events after Islamabad blast, prioritizing public safety and national unity.

Punjab – (Web Desk) – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Friday announced the cancellation of all Basant celebrations across the province following the tragic blast in Tarlai Kalan.

This includes a large Basant event that was planned for Saturday at Liberty Chowk, Lahore, ensuring public safety remains a top priority.

In a message posted on X (formerly Twitter), the chief minister said the move was taken in light of the tragic incident in Islamabad.

“In the wake of the Islamabad tragedy, I am cancelling all my Basant-related activities that were scheduled for tomorrow. The mega Basant show at Liberty Square also stands cancelled,” she wrote.

The chief minister stressed the need for national unity, saying it was imperative for the country to stand united against the “Khwarji menace and their sympathisers.”

She reaffirmed solidarity with the armed forces, adding that the nation must stand shoulder to shoulder with them in defence of the country.
