Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Rejects Assault Allegations Against College Guard
Claims of Assault Branded as Fabricated and Misleading
Lahore, October 16, 2024 – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has rejected the assault allegations made against a college security guard, labeling them as part of a fabricated narrative. During a press conference in Lahore, she asserted that the accusations were entirely false and unjustly amplified into a significant issue.
Maryam Nawaz explained that while a report was initially filed with the police, alleging that a private college student had been assaulted, social media platforms distorted the story and spread misinformation. She stated that an organized effort had been made to mislead the authorities, particularly following failed protests. The student’s mother has also urged the authorities to identify those responsible for this conspiracy.
The Chief Minister clarified that the student in question had been hospitalized since October 2, making it impossible for her to have been involved in the alleged incident. “On the day the false report emerged, the student wasn’t even at the college. The security guard, who was wrongfully accused, has been taken into police custody, but no students had any knowledge of the alleged event when questioned.”
Maryam Nawaz condemned the misuse of social media for spreading false information and manipulating students, calling the situation dangerous. She emphasized that there were no eyewitnesses, as no such incident had taken place. A fact-finding committee has thoroughly investigated the case, and the Punjab government is prepared to take legal action against those involved. “Regardless of political affiliations, those responsible will be exposed by the FIA. I am fully aware of who is behind this,” she stated.
