Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Announces Journalist Colony Phase-II in Lahore

In a major development for journalists, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered the swift initiation of Journalist Colony Phase-II in Lahore, promising residential plots for media professionals.

The directive was issued during her meeting with Provincial Information Minister Azma Zahid Bokhari at the Chief Minister’s House, where Maryam Nawaz highlighted the crucial partnership between the government and the media, likening them to “two wheels of a vehicle.”

Maryam Nawaz stressed that this project is a rightful provision for journalists, not a privilege, with plots being allocated once the necessary commercial and legal requirements are fulfilled.

This decision is set to benefit 3,200 journalists, including both members of the Lahore Press Club and other eligible media practitioners.

Azma Bukhari shared that the Ministry of Information is tasked with expediting the legal procedures, with an official advertisement calling for applications anticipated in the next two to three days.

The initiative reflects the government’s dedication to supporting journalists and valuing their role in society.
