Punjab Chief Minister Announces Free Solar Systems
The Chief Minister directed that solar systems based on the latest technology should be provided to consumers.
Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced the provision of 50,000 solar systems of 1-kilowatt each free of cost in the province.
Under the “Bijli Se Nijat Roshni Ke Saath” program of the Punjab government’s Roshan Gharana scheme, domestic consumers will be provided with solar systems.
A meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was held on Tuesday to discuss the matter. Provincial Information Minister Azmi Zahid Bokhari, former Senator Pervez Rashid, MPA Saniha Aashiq, Chief Secretary, Chairman P&D, Energy Secretaries, Finance, Chief Executive Officer of PPDB, and Managing Director of PPDB, among others, attended the meeting.
The Energy Secretary briefed the meeting.
It was decided in the meeting that in the first phase, 50,000 protected consumers with 100 units will be given solar systems through a lucky draw. Immediate steps will be taken to install 1-kilowatt solar systems, which will include high-quality solar plates, inverters, batteries, and other systems.
In the first phase, 50,000 solar systems of 1 kilowatt each will be provided to consumers with 100 units.

The Chief Minister directed that solar systems based on the latest technology should be provided to consumers.
For the first phase, Rs. 12.6 billion has been allocated.
The scope of solar system installation will gradually be expanded for domestic consumers.
CM Maryam directs to establish Punjab tax consultancy unit
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved establishment of a new department for anti-narcotics and building of three police stations for drug control.
The approval was given during a meeting in Lahore today.
She directed to set up a tax consultancy unit and called for broaden the tax net to bring all those in to the tax net.
She directed to clear the backlog of registration plates of motor vehicles.
The meeting was briefed that thirteen excise check posts will be established to prevent smuggling and drug smuggling.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif also directed to formulate a comprehensive policy for export of buffalo milk and meat to China.
She directed that only vaccinated and tagged cattle will be allowed to the cattle market and slaughterhouse.
The Chief Minister emphasized need to establish a disease control compartment in Punjab and a new mechanism to increase exports of dairy products.
