Punjab bans Mobile Phone use by Doctors, Nurses During duty hours
Authorities have been directed to implement the ban without delay, ensuring full compliance at all levels.
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced strict action against the use of mobile phones in hospitals, with no more screens installed during shifts.
The new instructions issued to all public health institutions strictly prohibit medical staff from making videos, making calls and using social media while on duty. Authorities have been directed to implement the ban without delay, ensuring full compliance at all levels.
Any violation of the order will be dealt with under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability (PEDA) Act, which may include suspension, fines or even dismissal.
Provincial officials said the move is aimed at enhancing discipline, reducing distractions and ensuring that doctors and nurses focus fully on patient care during working hours. “The top priority is to strengthen the quality of healthcare and maintain undivided attention to patients,” the health department said.
This latest decision is part of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s broader healthcare reforms, which aim to bring accountability, efficiency and patient-centric services to the province’s public health sector.
