Punjab Announces Saturday Holiday, Updates Smart Syllabus

The minister announced that Saturday has been declared a holiday for all schools in Punjab.

LAHORE: Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has confirmed that all educational institutions in the province are open as usual.

The minister announced that Saturday has been declared a holiday for all schools in Punjab. He also highlighted that the smart and reduced syllabus for matriculation is now in effect across the province.

Rana Sikandar Hayat said that a team is currently working on the syllabus for the 11th grade, and the updated smart syllabus will be announced next week. He added that the smart syllabus has already been updated and uploaded, with the 9th-grade computer book reduced from 270 to 160 pages.

The aim of the smart syllabus is to reduce the academic burden on students. The minister explained that unnecessary content has been removed and the syllabus has been updated according to modern educational needs.

A committee comprising members from both private and public sectors has been formed to prepare the academic calendar. The minister said that the calendar will be finalized by December 1, and an official notification will be issued.
