PTI’s election symbol case: ECP challenges PHC’s decision
Fawad Chaudhry’s physical remand extended for 6-days
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has filed an appeal against the decision of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) regarding the allotment of election symbols and ballot tickets to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party.
The petition, filed by the legal representatives of the commission, has initiated a legal proceeding in the PHC. The request specifically urges the court to establish a two-member bench with special powers to expedite the resolution of the matter.
The PHC had previously suspended ECP’s decision on December 26, pertaining to the PTI’s participation in the upcoming elections and the allocation of electoral symbols.
The court had also issued directives to the ECP to publish PTI’s certificate on their official website, ensuring transparency in the legal process.
The development follows a series of controversies surrounding the ECP’s and PHC’s decisions.

Announcing the verdict, the accountability court directed the authorities to continue the investigation diligently and meet with the lawyers involved, in adherence to its directives.
Further proceedings in the case are scheduled for January 5, when Fawad Chaudhry will be produced before the accountability court once again.
