PTI Workers Urged to Arrive in Rawalpindi for Protest at Supreme Court Today

Islamabad-Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has unexpectedly altered its plans for a major rally in Rawalpindi, shifting the focus to a protest outside the Supreme Court of Pakistan. The party has retracted its application for the rally and is now organizing its members for the demonstration.

Initially, the PTI had submitted a petition to the Lahore High Court’s Rawalpindi bench seeking approval for the planned rally on September 28 after the district administration denied them a No Objection Certificate (NOC). However, this petition was withdrawn today by PTI lawyer Muhammad Faisal Malik, following directives from PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

PTI leader Advocate Niazullah Niazi stated that the protest outside the Supreme Court will be conducted peacefully, underlining that the right to peaceful protest is both a constitutional and legal entitlement.

According to Niazi, the protest is aimed at opposing the government’s proposed “Form 47” and its constitutional package, specifically the establishment of additional constitutional courts. He emphasized that constitutional courts already exist in the country, and the PTI is against the creation of more.

Niazi announced that lawyers will commence their protest outside the Supreme Court at 11:00 AM on Friday. The PTI leadership in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has instructed party members and officials to gather at 10:00 AM to take part in the demonstration.

In preparation for the protest in Rawalpindi, PTI officials and workers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been directed to depart at 10 AM tomorrow. A meeting of PTI’s parliamentary and organizational leaders took place at the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar, where they were advised to travel to Rawalpindi with the workers.

Sources indicate that PTI workers are set to leave Peshawar at 10 AM, and the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is scheduled to arrive in Swabi at 11 AM. Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur will then lead a convoy to Rawalpindi, with workers instructed to be fully prepared for the trip. They have also been informed that this event is a protest rather than a rally.
