ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has rejected claims by the federal government that PTI leader Murad Saeed is holed up at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar. Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif, the spokesperson for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, dismissed the allegations during a Sunday appearance at private news channel.
Saif questioned the government’s failure to arrest Saeed if he was indeed spotted at the Islamabad protest. “If they had seen Murad Saeed, they would have arrested him,” Saif said, adding that in his opinion, Saeed was not present at the protest. His remarks came in response to claims made earlier by Information Minister Attaullah Tarar.
Tarar, in a press conference earlier in the day, alleged that Saeed, who has been absconding since the May 9 riots, was hiding at the CM House in Peshawar. He further accused Saeed of leading a group of armed PTI supporters during the Islamabad protest. According to Tarar, the group was found in possession of guns, shells, and marbles, which were recovered following their arrests.

The conflicting statements have fueled the ongoing political tension, with PTI strongly rejecting the government’s accusations and maintaining that Saeed’s whereabouts remain unconfirmed.
