PTI Leaders Raise Alarm Over Election, Judiciary, and Political Crisis

Umar Ayub Criticizes PTI Leaders' Treatment and Pakistan's Economic Instability

Islamabad: Senior leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have raised significant concerns regarding the election results, judicial decisions, and the ongoing political crisis in the country. Speaking at a press conference at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar, Opposition Leader Umar Ayub Khan, Senator Shibli Faraz, and General Secretary Salman Akram Raja expressed their dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs.

Barrister Gohar accused the government of manipulating the 26th Constitutional Amendment and alleged that the Election Commission and judiciary had failed to protect PTI’s mandate. He said that the party’s 180 seats in the National Assembly were seized through rigging, despite a clear mandate given to PTI by the people on February 8. He reiterated PTI’s stance that it had the right to reclaim its mandate, expressing disappointment over the government’s rejection of negotiations.

Umar Ayub Khan, the Opposition Leader, criticized the treatment of PTI leaders, including Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, and others, who are currently imprisoned. He pointed out that these political leaders were being denied basic jail facilities, calling their confinement in military courts unconstitutional. He demanded their immediate release, stressing that the rule of law and the supremacy of the Constitution had not been upheld in Pakistan. Ayub also highlighted the lack of investment, rising inflation, and the stalled economy, particularly in Balochistan, as a direct result of the country’s current instability.

Shibli Faraz emphasized the ongoing political instability in Pakistan, pointing out the contrast with neighboring countries that have conducted transparent elections. He stressed that political stability would remain unattainable until free and fair elections are held.

Salman Akram Raja condemned the alleged rigging of the February 8 elections, stating that the results were manipulated to favor certain interests. He highlighted discrepancies in the Election Commission’s records but noted that no action had been taken. He called on the Supreme Court to immediately take notice of the electoral fraud.

The PTI leaders collectively called for swift action to address their concerns, with a focus on ensuring political stability and the restoration of democratic principles in the country.
