PTI Leader Hamid Khan Opposes Justice Yahya Afridi’s Nomination as Chief Justice
Islamabad-(Mudassar Iqbal): Hamid Khan, a leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has voiced his opposition to the nomination of Justice Yahya Afridi as the next Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP).
Khan expressed his discontent, stating, “We hope Justice Yahya Afridi will decline this offer. We do not support his appointment as CJP.” He further warned, “We will condemn this decision and launch a protest against it.”
Khan emphasized that Pakistan has already suffered from the appointment of out-of-turn judges as CJP on two previous occasions, and such a practice should not be repeated.
In a separate development, PTI has issued show-cause notices to several party members, including Zain Qureshi, over alleged violations. According to reports, PTI senior figure Firdous Shamim Naqvi sent the notices to Qureshi, Riaz Fatyana, Aslam Ghumman, and Miqdad Ali Khan.
The notification from PTI questioned, “Why has contact been intentionally severed?”
The party instructed the leaders to submit responses within seven days. It further warned that their party membership would be revoked if they failed to provide a satisfactory explanation.
